Maelstrom - It Was Predestined

Maelstrom were active in the Long Island metal underground, independently promoting two demos to a growing fan base in the late 80s. Founding members Joey Lodes (guitar) and Gary Vosganian (vocals) have rejoined forces to breathe new life into their old repertoire for the three-song demo, It Was Predestined. Mixed and mastered by Tue Madsen, the band’s thrash classics have naturally evolved into epic masterpieces unveiling elements of symphonic metal, classical metal and experimental black metal that hadn’t appeared to exist previously. Madsen’s job working on these tracks with Maelstrom have awakened incredible potential in them to level anything in their path. Place this alongside the suddenness in which this CD has surfaced in the metal underground and you have the proverbial force to be reckoned with, the likes of which hasn’t been witnessed for too long a time in the local Long Island scene. Lodes’ Malmsteen-comparable songwriting and Vosganian’s theatrical vocals give the CD an operatic feel that must be experienced firsthand to be believed.
